All Aboard! Engaging Activities for Child Therapy

Well presented, tons of information

Helpful, tangible activity examples.

Great presenter! Clear path to helping clients from start to finish.

This was an excellent training to enhance play therapy techniques in a group setting.

Webinar Description

90-minute webinar

Come on a creative counselling journey and learn practical activities to start, progress and end counselling sessions for children.

Making therapy and group work less dependent on talking can benefit young clients who struggle to verbalise their experiences and big emotions. Children can benefit from creative activities that help express, explore and resolve difficult issues.

In this webinar, we will use the metaphors of journey, travel and discovery in creative activities to assist children (aged 3-10) managing a range of presenting issues including anxiety, Covid-19 challenges, out-of-home care, parent separation and other grief and loss issues.

We will explore playful ways to introduce counselling, invite participation, manage the emotions of change and challenge and end counselling sessions. See demonstrations and hear clinical case applications of therapeutic activities using art, drama, storytelling and games around the metaphor of journey. Activities presented can be used in therapeutic group contexts as well as individual counselling and directive play therapy sessions.

All aboard to learn new creative techniques for the counselling journey.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the webinar you will have the opportunity to:

1) Implement at least 6 new creative therapy techniques with children.

2) Describe key tasks for therapists for beginning and ending therapeutic sessions and groups.

Webinar Feedback

This training was helpful in working with clients of all ages but especially children. The training was informative and easy paced for understanding how to create a "calming" space, using muscle memory, the senses, and more.
